SAS21 SCULP

I downloaded this magical piece of kit only a week ago and i'm totally hooked!!!!If, like me, your tiring of loop based packages and have a love for the 'random' then this is for you.

It enables you to manipulate footage, live input, text, and even 3D OBJECTS - all in a 3d environment.

Once you've input your material and mapped your textures onto the choosen elements you can generate infinite transformations which are NEVER loop based.

You can control the mapping of textures onto 3d objects (or 2D if required by simply using a 'plane' or 'background' object).

MXWendler

I've tested and used the MXW for a few days now and i am quite impressed with the features! You will need a newer GPU with Pixelshadertechnology to run it as it uses hardware acceleration. Check the FAQs on the website on this.

Resolume

Hiya,
Thought I'd post this up. I used Resolume2 at one of my gig's recently (RainDance, SEOne club, London, UK, 25th Sept).

This isn't supposed to be a conclusive fully featured review, but as stated above just my thoughts after using the software.

This text is basically what I sent in email form to the developers of Resolume with a few edits (by me) to make it readable.

Sticks.

VIDVOX GRID (Now VDMX)

GRID is not a full blown VJ mixing program but a clip triggering program with a unique interface and very good scratching, scrubbing and midi support. It also supports uncompressed component video, DV and highend output cards meaning it is being used a lot in theatre and other areas besides the VJ world. I believe GRID and VJAMM are the only VJ Apps with good solid support for scrubbing with DV and component video. It also has good solid audio support, another reason why it is in use by the theatre and AV crowd.

Troika Tronix Isadora

Isadora is a graphic programming environment for Macintosh (a beta version for Windows is also in development).

Kazetachi AD (Blow)

IMPORTANT NOTE: Since this review was written, the developers have changed strategy with the English version of this software. It has been sold to a company which are using it as part of a hardware solution, and despite a brief mention that a standalone software version would follow, there appears to be no sign of it so far. Therefore I cannot recommend this software at all unless you can cope with the Japanese version.
