Onadime Composer

Onadime Composer is a realtime multimedia authoring system, used to create so called compositions, that can later be played back with Onadime Composer itself or one of the Onadime Players. There is the Free Player and the Player Plus. At this point of time all products by Onadime are for noncommercial use only! Kazetachi AD (Blow)

IMPORTANT NOTE: Since this review was written, the developers have changed strategy with the English version of this software. It has been sold to a company which are using it as part of a hardware solution, and despite a brief mention that a standalone software version would follow, there appears to be no sign of it so far. Therefore I cannot recommend this software at all unless you can cope with the Japanese version.

VLight.MXR

EDITORS NOTE: THIS TOOL IS NO LONGER AVAILABLE.

This is a review of the Vlight.MXR. This doesn't cover anything regarding their newer Vlight.CTRL program, which adds direct audio reactivity into the mix.
This is a standard SWF (Flash file) mixer, and can play up to 3 layers of flash files on top of eachother. The documentation and layout of this program is extremely well done. I came into this program as a brand new VJ and was surprised at the ease in which I picked up the MXR.

Digital Stage MotionDive 2

THE classic VJ app from Japan, and NO, there is no English manual but the drag-and-drop interface makes learning this reliable video mixer a breeze. It isn't a complicated program so it's a favorite among newbies, and its extensive library of signature swirling CGI loops, vector-line animations, and urgently blinking Japanese kanji can make anyone an instant veejay right out of the box.

Resolume 1.0

Resolume is a software primarily designed for VJs who rely on video samples for their shows. You won't find any 2D generation, 3D or audio support here but, while Resolume isn't as full-featured as other solutions such as VisualJockey, it does really well what it can do.

MooNSTER

MooNSTER is live performance software featuring clip triggering, 3d objects, stills, palette cycling, FX and a range of other features.
You start in editor mode where you can assign clips, stills, 3d objects and palettes to keyboard layouts called databases that can be changed during a performance by droping back into the editor and loading another. 3D ojects can be loaded in sequence to create an animated 3d object.
